While teaching you the flow of the northern style, Thai Yoga Massage, sequence, our focus is on details that are often missed in Thailand: body mechanics, postural alignment, flow of movements, etc.
The use of body weight, oscillation (rocking motion), directional pressure, core awareness and engagement are all emphasised to bring an experience of ease and flow for both practitioner and receiver.
Day 1: introduction to Thai Yoga Massage, positions, tools, thumb use, body mechanics, use of body weight and rocking.
Movement class on body mechanics and positioning
TM relaxing motions, then Feet sequence demo and practice.
Day 2: Yoga Class
Legs meridians introduction and clearing, demo and practice
Legs stretches demo and practice
Day 3: Yoga Class
Legs stretches demo and practice
Between 6 and 9 hours of logged home practice and study time, in between weekends
Day 1: Practice / assessment of material learned previous weekend
Day 2: Yoga Class
Hamstring sequence and Hara massage demo and practice
Day 3: Yoga Class
Upper body, arms meridians intro + clearing; hands demo and practice
Between 6 and 9 hours of logged home practice, in between weekends
Day 1: Practice/assessment of the whole front position
Day 2: Meridians clearing, Legs stretches, back work and shoulders, on the side demo and practice, hands and side stretches demo and practice.
Day 3: Back Position: Feet work, hip flexors stretches, back work and stretches demo and Practice
Between 6 and 9 hours of logged home practice and study time, in between weekends
Day 1: Practice/assessment of the whole side position
Day 2: Back work and stretches demo and practice
Day 3: Advanced back work
Between 6 and 9 hours of logged home practice and study time, in between weekends
Day 1: Practice/assessment of the whole back position
Day 2: Sitting Position demo and practice
Day 3: Extra advanced moves, plus neck and face demo and practice
Between 6 and 9 hours of logged home practice and study time, in between weekends
Day 1: Full Practice
Day 2: Full Practice
Day 3: Final assessment exam / clinic practice.
20 hours of logged home practice, with 1 treatment filmed
The CERTIFICATE of COMPLETION is gained:
– on completion of all 6 in-person weekends; homework (questionnaires and logged practice, of which one filmed every month) and 20hrs of final clinic practice including some filmed (after the 6 months);
– only if the full course fee has been completely paid.
This certificate is recognised by the Massage Association of Australia Inc. (MMA)
Graduates can gain Public Liability Insurance by becoming a member of MMA or other insurance companies that recognise Thai Massage therapy.
The certificate of completion from Byron Thai Massage School is required to gain membership with MMA, and this is awarded on completion of all the hrs and at discretion
of the teacher.
Byron Thai Massage School is also recognised for Continuing Professional Education points (CPE) by:

The Practitioner Training Courses will give you all the practical knowledge you need to start practicing Thai Massage. How long it will take you before you feel ready to start charging clients is up to you. Each person’s ability to retain information and then apply it is unique.
Sundays 9am – 5 or 6pm
Yoga classes or body awareness classes only on Saturdays and Sundays.
If a student misses any demonstration and practice time, it will be very hard to recover the lost classes.
Possibilities will be assessed on individual cases, but no classes can ideally be missed. (You may be able to join an intensive course for the classes you missed, if there’s available space).
Byron Bay, the most easterly point of Australia’s coast is a wonderful destination for both Australians and tourists from all over the world.
The subtropical climate and the surf make Byron’s beaches wonderful all year around and the famous alternative culture adds character to the town center.
This course takes place 3km out of the town center, in the art and industry estate of Byron Bay. You will be able to find lots of cafes and shops, an IGA supermarket, Santos health food store, a French bakery, a pie shop, a French and an Italian deli, juice bars and a lot more!
Accommodation for each 3 day course is fully your responsibility to find and organise.
Be aware that Byron Bay is an extremely busy town and booking places long time in advance is recommended.
